So, who else made it to Yarmouth this year? I met Graham and Peppy on Corncockle, was tied up alongside Joy (whose owner's name I have completely forgotten - don't tell me it was the effect of the beer...), and briefly hailed ex-Planet owner Adrian who has gone all triangular these days. I saw Witchhazel although did not get to meet her crew (Dave and Hazel kindly took me out sailing in her before I bought Victoria Ruth and it was one of the deciding factors, but I think that she might be in other hands now). I think that there was at least one wooden Working Boat as well. We must have just about matched the "Cornish" fleet, which is unusual!

Anyone else?

I failed to get there last year due to some medical problems while trying to round my personal Cape Horn (Calshot Spit!) and so this was my first visit since I went to the very first two Yogaff events. It's grown a bit since then. However, the organisers seem to have contacts in high places and it's difficult to believe that we could have had better weather if it had been ordered specially - blue skies, sun, fluffy white clouds and pretty consistent E-NE 3-5 or so.

I would rather sail in the West Country than the Solent but at the moment it is better to keep the boat near home and go sailing more often. One day...

Unfortunately it needs more time than I usually have available to get down to Dartmouth, even, with time to tour and to get home comfortably. It's all part of the retirement plan, though!

I have never been to the event, mainly because I can't bring myself to sail East of Dartmouth !
There is a fine photo of Corncockle on page 10 of Classic Boat 134 August 1999. Wrongly posted as "Chloe May" !! Again at the Yarmouth event.
