Has anyone Fitted a new one? If so please could you let me have more info. Many thanks David
Hello David
If you are replacing your keelband. Insist on it coming well up the bows and lies flush.
CRINKERS was a bit short and would not lie flush, causing it to catch weed and other flotsam while underway. There was also a small chance of trapping a mooring line in there.
I temporarily fixed the problem by gluing a small strip of rubber above and in the gap.

Hi David,
Just getting back to catching up on the GALA website... saw your post, and having come on to look up any comments re keel bands for Picarooners, and hey! ...someone with the same problem! Mine is not yet in two halves, but I fear it may not altogether be too long, and I will need to get it sorted. This must be a relatively common problem with these keel bands - which I suspect are rather more iron than steel?? Hell of a lot of flaking on mine, and a fat lot of good antifouling does to minimise it, what with trolling on and off trailers. I figured on having to get sorted with a local boatyard - Winnow is based on the Fowey at Penmarlem - as I recall another Picarooner owner doing similar a couple of years ago. However, now I read that Sam is setting up at Mylor again, and is currently working in a workshop at Tregatreath, and happy to refit - so a first port of call would certainly seem to be Sam - from the latest news posting, his email is samheardmylor@hotmail.co.uk
...so hopefully that should help you too. I won't be doing anything to mine this side of the winter lay-up (touchwood!), but let me know how you get on! How bad is yours?
Hope helps,
Clive
