Boat Insurance

My friend Steve Cole (no email) has nearly completed refitting his Tosher 18 "Nutmeg".  He hopes to launch her next month and needs to arrange insurance.

1.Any advice on which company he should approach?

2.Is he likely to have to arrange a survey as "Nutmeg" is believed to have been built in 1974/76?

Regards

Hi

If he values the boat at less than 10K he could get away without a survey.

I would keep the value down below 10k, save a lot of hassel

I had my last boat and my current Kestral dinghy with craft insure. Black Pig (my last boat) was solen and craftinsure paid up. I had to chase them up a bit because of lack of comunitcation between them and the claims adjuster. But all was sorted.

Carrie is with Crhirsteopher Rowe in Penzance, as it was easyer to stick with the same brocker as the last owner, will be looking into changing in the future (too much small print)

Navigators & General Ins.Co.

They would only cover CRINKER being in the water from April to October.

After my insisting that I wanted to be able to sail all year round they relented and offered cover for the whole 12 months on or off the water if I liked.

Cost £109.88 Includes Trailer, Outboard Motor and any legal expenses incurred.
