Boat info?

Hello

I'm after info about a boat that Dover Sea Cadet's has.

Some photos can be found here.. http://picasaweb.google.com/mikenco/CornishGaffRiggedBoat#

I have been told that it is a 'Cornish Fishing Boat'.. and that's it. After a little Googling, I *think* it might be a Picarooner?

Apparently, it was last sailed about 5 years ago, but we are not sure what to do with this boat, is it worth restoring?.. is worth anything in it's current condition if we just sold it for (desperately needed) funds.

Since these photos were taken, I have since refitted the mast and found more of what I believe is the correct rigging.

Any info about this boat would be appreciated.

Hi Tim

I'm not sure of the exact dimensions. However, I have been in touch since with the Great-grandson of Terence Heard who built this boat. He has confirmed that it is a Clovelly Picarooner.

It doesn't have a motor well, but there is an extended bracket on the stern to fit one. It does have a basic removable dagger board.

I have added further pictures to here:  http://picasaweb.google.com/mikenco/CornishGaffRiggedBoat#

As you can see, we don't have the rigging quite right yet and have yet to find the boom.

I guess that all I really still need to know if whether the thing is worth fixing up. Or more importantly, is it worth anything at all?

UPDATE: I have now found the boom and the boat is pretty much complete.

The Sea Cadet's Commanding Officer has made the decision that we don't have the funds to restore the boat and as such I am to find a buyer for it.

Any advice as to what it could be worth and any tips on how and where to advertise it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

hi Mike we have only had our Picarooner for a year so we are by no means experts on them. From all the pictures i have seen your boat is very unusual she has a Dagger board rather than a centre board and is a ketch with a mizzen, and no outboard well.

Is she an early experimental sailing  Picarooner made by Terry Heard or a conversion from Terry Heard built  launch by someone else?

Have you seen Tony Nelsons picarooner website, he is trying to register all Picarooners www.polperro.co.uk/crinkers_homepage.htm

What is she worth? I noted on the internet that some one was inviting offers on a boat (not a Picarooner) The funds to go to the RNLI perhaps you coulds do the same to raise funds for the cadets. looking at the condition of her i would say anything over £250 , she will need a much work to make her seaworthy, but I think she would be worth saving.
